Students from Bullard represented the nations of Italy, Tanzania and Afghanistan. Members of the delegations were Suzanne Warden, Kory Prince, Brianna Hinton, Katie Worrell, Heather Berryhill, Allie Wade, Minta Spears, Katie Shumate, Stephanie Tillman, Cheyenne Veach, Colton Stacks and Broc Glover.

The Model United Nations is a longterm simulation in which students research the social, political and economic factors and issues that determine the identity of a sovereign state. The research culminated in a two day Model United Nations meeting in which students served as delegates from their chosen nation.

Debates, voting blocs, resolution writing, student products, decision making, collaboration, problem solving and persuasive, impromptu and formal speaking, all played a significant role in the success of each delegate and in the Model UN itself.

The Bullard students were in competition with 25 nations and won several honors, including first and third place in Map Competition; first place in Collage Competition; and second place in Best Delegation Category.

They also were judged on active participation by all delegates who were present, well-informed on issues, followed parliamentary procedure, logical reasoning in pro/con speeches, represented country’s viewpoint on issues, adherence to time regulations and professional behavior.

Berryhill, Wade, Spears, Shumate and Tillman, and Committee Co-Chair Warden, were awarded Best Delegate in Committee Medalists.

Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the U.N. General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. More that 200,000 high school and college/university students worldwide participate every year.
