Roy, Kirgan file for BISD Board of Trustees

TIFFANY KIRGAN TIFFANY KIRGAN Michael Roy and Tiffany Kirgan filed for positions on the Bullard Independent School District school board.

Roy, the Place 7 BISD Trustee, is seeking a sixth term. Tiffany Kirgan will campaign for Place 6, held by Sam Smith, who said he will not re-run for election.

Roy said he wants to continue serving at a BISD Trustee.

“I enjoy it,” Roy said of serving on the board. “We’ve come a long way, and with the growth in Bullard, we’re going to have to keep up with that. Our technology program is growing well and I want to be along to see it get a little stronger”

Roy, 52, and his wife, Sharon, have two grown children. All four family members graduated from Bullard High School.

“I was born and raised here, and I know the community,” Roy said. “I want to see our kids do the best possible and help give a good education to all Bullard children.”

“I also want to help be a good steward over the finances of BISD,” Roy said.

Kirgan, 37, said she graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and is an independent financial advisor with a focus on estate and financial planning, and she and her husband, Ramon, own Ra-K’s Meat Market & Deli in Bullard.

Kirgan, who grew up in West Texas and moved to East Texas in 1993, also has a teaching certificate.

“I think it would be an asset to the board,” Kirgan said of her background in education and finance.

She also has been involved in the Bullard PTO and is the PTO president at the elementary school. Kirgan also is a member of the Bullard Education Foundation Board.

“We’re keenly aware and eager to see the Bullard school system succeed,” Kirgan said of herself and her husband. “I thought it was another opportunity to give back to the schools.

Kirgan and her husband have two children in Bullard schools, including Allie Rae, 9, in the fourth grade, and Lexi, 11, in the sixth grade.
