Panthers play in Athens tourney
The Bullard tennis team competed in the Athens tennis tournament Friday, Feb. 5.
Christopher Braaten placed first in boys singles.
“Christopher played good solid tennis,” said Tanya Bryant, BHS tennis coach. “He did not lose a game the whole tournament. This was a great start to the spring season for him.”
Stephen Head captured fourth place in boys singles.
“Stephen played five matches and competed hard all day. He is playing very well to start off the spring,” Bryant said.
In girls competition, Casaundra Braaten also captured first place in girls singles.
“Casaundra, like her brother, also won every match and didn’t lose a game to her opponents,” Bryant said. “She is playing very consistent and smart tennis right now and I am excited about what the spring holds for her.” Other highlights for Bullard included Morgan Johns and Kelsey Yetter, who won two of their four matches in girls doubles.
“They both have improved a lot since we started in the fall,” Bryant said. “Ashley Kotzur is a young and upcoming freshman. She played very hard in her matches and almost pulled one out.”
In boys doubles and mixed doubles, the Panthers paired up boys and girls who had not played together before. Bryant said she will likely be making some changes to see what the best scenario will be for district.
