Panthers hand Tatum first league loss

BULLARD – The Bullard Panthers gave Tatum their first district loss on Friday night, with a 79-57 win at Panther Gymnasium.

Bullard’s Josiah Rosebury led all scorers in the game with 19 points, as the Panthers built a 36-30 lead at the half.

Rosebury scored 13 of his points in the third period, as the Panthers (19-9; 4-1) outscored Tatum 23-20, for a 59-50 advantage.

Panther guard, Daniel Howard added 15 points, while teammates, Marquez Franklin and Lance Anding added 13 points apiece, for Bullard.

A Rosebury jumper, at the 2:05 mark of the third quarter, pushed the Panthers to their first 10-point lead at 52-42. The senior guard, Rosebury then continued his assault, starting off the final stanza with five-straight points and a 64-50 lead.

Desmond Fite hit two 3-pointers and scored 10 points for the Eagles (4- 1).

Taft Rose and Conner Gurley scored 18 and 15 points respectively, to lead the junior varsity to a dominating 76-50 win.

Bullard’s Chandler Clarke and Scott Lowrie scored eight points apiece, to lead the freshmen team to a 47-40 win, to improve to 3-2 in loop play.

Bullard plays at Chapel Hill next Fri. at 7 p.m., before returning to host Spring Hill on Feb. 9, as the Lady Panthers will honor Senior Night before the boys varsity game.
