Bullard realignment brings Rusk to loop

AUSTIN – The new UIL district alignments were released on Monday, and Bullard is back to playing some old nemesis’, according to the information released.

The district number will remain the same, as District 17-3A, and Bullard and Chapel Hill the only two school remaining from the past setup.

Joining the new district will reconger old rivalries with Brownsboro and Rusk, and add Athens to make up the five team league.

District 16, which is in Region II, will now have the likes of Gilmer, Gladewater, Carhage, Henderson, Spring Hill, and Pittsburg.

In the larger classifications locally, John Tyler dropped to 4A and will play in Region II, District 14 against Hallsville, Jacksonville, Kilgore, Pine Tree, Marshall, Nacogdoches, and Whitehouse.

The Troup Tigers are in Region II, District 11, playing Crockett, Elkhart, Malakoff, Teague, and Trinity, and seven miles away, the Arp Tigers are now in a completely different region.

Arp will play in District 9, in Class 2A Division II, with the likes of Frankston, Union Grove, Joaquin, West Rusk, and Winona.

CLASS 3A REGION III District 17-3A: Athens, Brownsboro, Bullard, Rusk, Tyler Chapel Hill District 18: Center Diboll, Huntington, Jasper, Kirbyville, Lufkin Hudson (basketball only), Pollock Central (basketball only).

District 19: China Spring, Gatesville, Lorena, Waco Robinson, Waco Connally, Waco LaVega.

District 20: Fairfield, Groesbeck, Madisonville, Mexia, Palestine, Palestine-Westwood.

District 21: Bridge City, Mamshire-Fannett, Orangefield, Silsbee, Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson, West Orange Stark.

District 22 – Cleveland, Cleveland,Tarkington, Coldspring-Oakhurst, Houston Yes Prep North Central (basketball only), Huffman Hargrave, Liberty Sheperd Splendora.

District 23: Caldwell, Giddings, LaGrange, Navasota, Rockdale, Smithville.

District 24: Bellville, Brookshires Royal, Columbus, Houston KIPP (basketball only), Sealy Stafford.
