BOYS GAME
Brook Hill flexed their muscles once again, in another 63-42 swamping of league opponent, The Shelton School of Dallas.
The Chargers only had three players get in the score book, and that was almost at the mercy of The Guard stingy defense, showing a bit of humanity.
Enough humility had been suffered, scoring in single digits in the first and third quarters, to end any thoughts of an upset for the visitors, early on.
The first ten-point lead came at the 5:21 mark, as Chappelle scored seven of his 21-points in the opening quarter, alone.
Courtney Thomas came on to add nine of his 11 points, to bolster the Guard inside game in the second quarter, for a 37-24 halfime lead..
The Clardy senior twins, Luke (four points, seven rebounds) and John (seven points, five rebounds), had outstanding second halves, with a combined 11 points and 12 rebounds, as they swapped out time in the ‘Wallygo round’ rotation for the entire game.
GIRLS GAME
Ball skills and fundamentals have blended well for end coach, Curtis Corley, as his Lady Guard clinched a playoff berth and more importantly, climbed two games above the .500 mark in league play.
True – the Lady Guard was a playoff team one year ago, but as a fourth seed and only four wins in league play. The current 6-4 standard, with two big games left, has the coach and his team excited about post-season play talk already.
Amy Jo Teague scored a second quarter basket to make it a 23-8 Brook Hill lead, and Udom made a follow-up shot after a rebound, to expand the lead to 35-13, with 5:13 on the third quarter clock.
Alyssa Eden canned a 3-pointer to make it a 41-8 contest, and a great pass from Mary Caroline Selden to the freshmen, Alyssa Eden finished off the 59-37 rout.
Dara Udom had her usual doubledouble, with 18 points and 16 rebounds, while senior point guard, Erica Eden added 15 points in the win.
