DALLAS - The Lady Guard earned their first district win, and got their head coach career win No. 700 behind the inside play of Dara Udom and a total team for a 69-45 TAPPS district win on Saturday, at the Swift Athletic Center on The Shelton School of Dallas campus.

Udom scored 12 of her game high 22 points in the opening half, as the Lady Guard took a 40-21 lead into the halftime break.

Two ties and three lead changes highlighted the opening half of play before Udom , Jenny Anderson, and Mary Caroline Selden made baskets for the 19- point halftime cushion.

Amy Jo Teague took over the point position and led the Lady Guard, playing one starter short for three quarters.

Another late run in the third quarter for Brook Hill behind Teague, and Anderson made it a 44-34 game going in to the final period.

Senior guard, Erica Eden, was competing in TAPPS TAMA music competition in Commerce earlier in the day, and showed up for the final quarter to aid in sealing the Lady Guard win, adding three-points.

The fresh legs from the all-district point guard iced the game away, in her limited time in the last eight-minutes.

“I am so glad we won for Coach Corley,” said team captain, Erica Eden, after the game. “He has been such a great coach for us and he deserves to reach such a great achievment.”

The Lady Guard play their district home opener on Tuesday, as they entertain the Garland Christian Lady Swords.
