Nine Guard players named TAPPS All-State
JEREMEY CHAPPELLE FIRST TEAM WIDE RECIEVER FIRST TEAM DEFENSIVE BACK
WACO – The state runner-up, Brook Hill Guard, placed nine players and three two-way honorees on the 2009 TAPPS Division III All-State teams recently released.
Leading the way for the Guard is senior district co- MVP, Jeremey Chappelle, garnering two-way all-state first team honors at wide receiver and defensive back.
Joining Chappelle on the first team offensive unit are sophomore wide out, J.B. Moss and Georgetown University-bound lineman, Heath Dickey. Lineman Justin Northcutt was the lone honorable mention on offense.
Junior league co-MVP with Chappelle made the second team on both sides of the ball.
Defensively, district MVP Tallen Harris was named to the first unit at linebacker, joined by teammates sophomore linebacker Jared Dickey, and Chappelle in the secondary.
The second team defensive unit added Guard players defensive tackle Heath Dickey, lineman Matt Ruark, and defensive backs A.J. Minter and Baker. Linebacker Ross Lee was honorable mention, wrapping up The Guard awards.

Eight-time state champion Waco Reicher had 13 players on the team, led by quarterback Matt Hicks, named first team quarterback and defensive back, as the lone Cougar repeat player. Nine of the 13 Cougar picks were first team nominees.
Waco Reicher (12-3), beat Brook Hill in the state finals, 35-28 for the Cougars eighth state title, and third in-a-row.
The Guard (12-3), loses Heath Dickey, Chappelle, Northcutt and two-way, all district player, Zach Cool to graduation.
