Brook Hill thrill over Chapel Hill No. 600

Chappelle fought through double and triple-teaming defense to score 20-points in the milestone win for head coach Wally Dawkins.
TYLER – Jeremey Chappelle scored 20-points to lead all scorers, as the Brook Hill Guard got head coach Wally Dawkins his career 600th win, in a 61-52 final over Chapel Hill in the fourth game of the Wagstaff Holiday Classic, at Tyler Junior College this past Monday.
Brook Hill Tyler Baker and Mason Spradlin got The Guard rolling to a 22-15 first quarter lead, as both made two treys to open things up.
In the second period, Colton Townley gave Brook Hill their first 10-point lead with his 3-pointers, and a 31-21 count on the board.
Chappell scored eight points in the third quarter as Brook Hill built a 53-39 lead, just before Brook Hill put a small scare in the orange-and-blue fans with only eight-points in the final period.
Meanwhile, Bulldog guard Jordan Williams nailed two 3-pointers in the final two-minutes, to close it to a four-point gap.
Baker knocked down two clutch freethrows, and post Courtney Thomas scored his tenth-point with the final Brook Hill bucket and the win.
A win over Grace Community in the second round could possibly set up an all- Bullard championship game. Bullard High School was a big winner over T.K. Gorman in the first game of the day, 75-57.
The Guard will play Lindale in the semi-finals after a hot shootout with Sulphur Springs, 39-33.
All semi-final games were played after press deadline on Tuesday afternoon.
