Flint man found guilty
Anthony Miner, 28, of Flint, was found guilty Wednesday, Dec. 2, on charges of evading arrest and committing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 7th Smith County District Court with Judge Kerry Russell presiding.
According to Smith County Assistant District Attorney Richard Vance, Miner faces a possible two to 20 year sentence in a Texas Department of Corrections facility and a $10,000 fine.
According to evidence presented during the trial, the charges against Miner stemmed from a police chase on April 8. After running a red signal light at a Tyler intersection, Minor refused to stop and eventually crashed into two other vehicles. He was arraigned for the charges, a first degree felony, in May.
Tyler Police Sgt. Darin Grissom and Officer Jeff Roberts also both testified that they smelled formaldehyde or embalming fluid on Miner’s breath after he was arrested. Both said that they thought Miner had been smoking a marijuana cigarette that had been dipped in formaldehyde, also commonly known as PCP.
