BASEBALL The UT Tyler baseball team’s annual winter camps will be held this year on Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 at UT Tyler’s Irwin Field. Both camps will be held from 1-5 p.m. and all participants will receive a UT Tyler Baseball backpack. Each camp will focus on all aspects of the game, with the camp on Dec. 6 being geared toward high school players and the one on Dec. 13 being aimed at players ages 8-13. This year’s instructors for both dates will include UT Tyler head coach James Vilade, assistant coaches Stan Phelps, Josh Dickerson, Paige Hodges and Brock Lemire, and former Patriot and current San Diego Padres prospect, Brett Holland. SOFTBALL The UT Tyler softball team will have camp offerings for the 2009-2010 winter season. This year, the Patriots will offer a total of six winter camps, with three focusing on all skills and three being geared exclusively towards pitching. The faculty for this year’s camps will include UT Tyler head coach Mike Reed, assistants Cassie Crabtree and Coby Gipson, as well as members of the 2010 UT Tyler softball team. This year’s dates for the pitching camps will be Nov. 28, Dec. 29 and Jan. 16. All three pitching camps are for players of all ages and will last from 1-3:30 p.m. each day. The first all-skills camp will take place on Dec. 19 and will be open to high school players only. On Jan. 2, the Patriots will host a youth allskills camp for players ages 8-13 and on Jan. 9 will host a second all-skills camp for high school players. All three all-skills camps will last from 1-5 p.m. The price for each camp is $40 and every camper will receive a UT Tyler Softball backpack. All camps will take place at the UT Tyler Ballpark.
