The Guard guards too much for Mustangs
BULLARD - Brook Hill guards, Colton Townley, Mason Spradlin and Carter Clements sank a combined eight 3-pointers, leading to a 67-44 win over Overton on Monday night at Herrington gymnasium.
Clements busted a 3- pointer in the first quarter to build a 15-5 lead early on.
Townley then began to bomb away in the second quarter and a 33-20, Guard lead at halftime.
Townley scored 16 points, and Spradlin’s two bombs added to a 15-point night for the senior guard.
Guard post, Luke Clardy, had a team-high 22 points to pace Brook Hill (3-0). The Mustangs (1-2), got a solid 26 points from Nathan Holland for Overton in the loss.
There were no other Mustangs in double-figures as Luke and John Clardy took care of the paint and the rebounds.
The Guard improves to 3-0 on the season, still waiting on a few starters still yet to come over from football.
The Guard is coming off impressive wins in the Burger King Clasic against top-ranked Slocum, and T.K. Gorman in an overtime thriller.
