Guard makes new mark with state title shot
      CORSICANA – The game the Brook Hill Guard has waited and hoped for all season long is on. The Guard will play for the TAPPS Division III next week after shocking Arlington-Pantego, 54-29, at Tiger Stadium on Friday afternoon in the state semi-finals.

      KILLEEN – The TAPPS Division III crown comes down to No. 2 Brook Hill against No. 3 Waco-Reicher at Leo Buckley Stadium in Killeen, at 7 p.m. Brook Hill advanced with the 54-29 win over Arlington-Pantego on Friday in Corsicana. Waco- Reicher pounded Colleyville- Covenant, 63-7 on Saturday.

Third-ranked Guard hoops off to good start; only getting better after football
      TYLER – The Brook Hill Guard still missing a few major players for the upcoming basketball season, started off with two impressive wins in the Burger King Classic at Tyler-Lee’s gymnasium this past week. An early morning win on Friday over Class 1A, top-ranked Slocum was followed on Saturday morning with a thrilling 57-50, overtime win over T.K. Gorman.

UT-Tyler holiday sports camps scheduled
      BASEBALL The UT Tyler baseball team’s annual winter camps will be held this year on Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 at UT Tyler’s Irwin Field. Both camps will be held from 1-5 p.m. and all participants will receive a UT Tyler Baseball backpack. Each camp will focus on all aspects of the game, with the camp on Dec. 6 being geared toward high school players and the one on Dec.

Lady Panthers have best outing of early season
      TYLER – The Bullard Lady Panthers were pretty consistent throughout the game, en route to a 50-36 win over a very athletic, Jacksonville Fightin’ Maidens. According to head coach, Greg Gay, there was a little lull but the best yet overall.

Panthers pressure Crusaders for Sampson and team first win
      BULLARD – The Bullard Panthers got a few more new faces back after football, and the Robert Sampson reign at Bullard picked up their first win in fast-break fashion with a 76-48, win over T.K. Gorman at Panther gymnasium last week. The Panthers started the season against top-ranked teams, Sabine and Mount Pleasant to start off the season, five players short due to football.

The Guard guards too much for Mustangs
      BULLARD - Brook Hill guards, Colton Townley, Mason Spradlin and Carter Clements sank a combined eight 3-pointers, leading to a 67-44 win over Overton on Monday night at Herrington gymnasium. Clements busted a 3- pointer in the first quarter to build a 15-5 lead early on. Townley then began to bomb away in the second quarter and a 33-20, Guard lead at halftime.
