GROESBECK – Once again, the Brook Hill ‘Triple-Threat Review’ was centerstage and as the Brook Hill Guard made school history and got some sweet revenge on Saturday, beating Austin-Regents last year with a 48-21 win over the Knights on Saturday afternoon at Groesbeck Stadium.
The Knights ended the Guard’s season last year in Waco in the same round of play but this year there was no denying Guard quarterback, Tyler Baker and his Guard warlords.

Baker, a two-way starter was all Brook Hill needed in the first half as the junior ran for scores from 66 and 83 yards in the opening half.
The 66-yarder came on the first play from scrimmage for Brook Hill.
Austin-Regents answered back as they capitalized on the first of two Brook Hill turnovers to lead to their first half points.
Knight’s linebacker, Paul Phillips made his first of two recoveries, followed up as Luke Moore caught a 20-yard scoring strike from Josh Moore to even the score at 7-7.
Baker broke-away for another long scoring run of 83-yards, and the J.B. Moss kick regained the Guard lead.
The only Baker miscue was an interception made by the Knights at the Brook Hill 29 yard-line. Six-plays later, back-up quarterback, Caleb Smith came on to rumble in from 6-yards out, and the even-up boot by Nick Pawleka tied the game again, 14-14 at the intermission.
Regents controlled the ball for most of the first half running 45 plays to only 15 for the Guard. Brook Hill held a 236-229 advantage at the half in total offense, in those 15 plays, however.
The two long Baker TD’s, combined with six other carries for the quarterback totaled with 187-yards rushing in the opening half alone for the signal-caller.
The junior QB, Baker tacked on some more in the final half to finish out with 15 carries for 269 yards, threw 6-of-9 for two scores and another 194, for 443 yards of offense.
Baker’s favorite target, Jeremey Chappelle pumped up the Brook Hill crew up early in the second half with a 72-yard scoring catch to once again regain the Guard lead at 21-14.
Another Baker scoring jaunt of 5-yards and a 72-yard race for a score from A.J. Minter rang up 22 points in the quarter, and a 36-14 lead going in to the final period.
The Guard was relentless as Moss ran about 100-yards east-and-west to eventually turning the long-corner and sprinting down the left sideline to score from 48-yards away.
Moss totaled out with eight carries for 94 yards and a score, one catch of 30 yards, and four PAT kicks, and one PAT run conversion.
Chappelle got back in to the scoring act hauling in a 22 yard pass from Baker to up the score to a 48-14, Brook Hill cushion. Chappelle finished with four catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns for the offense.
Four fourth-down stands for the Guard defense were major momentum swings for Brook Hill in the second half. Ross Lee and Chappelle made fumble recoveries for Brook Hill and Wade Karam made a fourth quarter interception to put a final hush to the Regents fans and any comeback hopes.
Ross Lee, Heath and Jared Dickey, Tallen Harris, Justin Northcutt, Baker, Moss and Chappelle were among the mainstays defensively.
Brook Hill outgained the Knights with 590 yards in 43 plays, while holding the Knights to 335 yards in 72 plays.
Brook Hill now advances the farthest the Guard has ever progressed in football since they began playing. The Guard lines up with Arlington-Pantego Christian in the TAPPS Division III State Semifinal game next Friday afternoon in Corsicana at 2 p.m.
