Bullard back on track with win

HALLSVILLE — The Bullard Lady Panthers got back on the winning track, but it did not come easy, besting Hallsville, 52-49 at Bobcat gymnasium on Friday night.

Hallsville made a run in the final quarter to make it closer game than the score indicated earlier, outscoring Bullard in the stanza, 15-7.

Bullard was on the way to recording a double-digit win over the Class 4-A, Ladycats, leading 45-34 after three quarters of play.

Minta Spears spearheaded the Bullard attack by pouring in 27 points including five buckets from beyond the three-point mark.

Lady Panther, guard, Christina Hatten added 10 points for the Lady Panthers while post, Kayla Welling added six points and ten rebounds.

Hallsville got 17-points apiece in the win from Monica Perez and Meagan McGuire to stay close enough for the fifth quarter push for the Ladycats. Bullard won the junior varsity game in a 60-59, triple overtime nail-biter.

The Lady Panthers are back in action Friday at 10 a.m., playing Jacksonville (2-2) in the Burger King Classic at the Tyler Lee Varsity Gymnasium
