Bullard High School Theater competed in the Van Drama Festival Saturday, Nov. 7, winning the overall Sweepstakes championship for the past two years. Bullard high school and middle school students combined efforts brought home the win for Bullard.

Bullard won with 1,210 points. Following Bullard were Forney High School in second, Lindale in third, Texas High in fourth and Chapel Hill was fifth.

“I encouraged each student to compete in three or more contests in each area. I felt it was important for the students to be busy all day.” said Sandy Spears, Bullard theater instructor.

The students competed individually and in small groups. After the tournament some of the students stayed to watch Van High School’s performance of “Little Shop of Horrors.”

“It was an eventful day. The students had tons of fun and also learned how to participate in a theater festival,” Spears said.
