Spring Hill ends long Panther season

Spring Hill enjoys Senior Night with 56-7 finale win

MARQUEZ FRANKLIN MARQUEZ FRANKLIN SPRING HILL – Spring Hill celebrated Senior Night, and the Bullard Panthers finished out a season of hard times on the football field, dropping their final game of the year, 56-7, to Spring Hill at Panther Stadium on Friday night.

The Panthers avoided another shutout as quarterback, Marquez Franklin picked up 79 of the 210- yards of Panther rushing yards with a TD on the final drive of the year for Bullard.

Santiago Escobar added on the PAT kick for the 56-7 verdict.

Franklin had trouble all night again finding the time to make plays, suffering six sacks in the game. Meanwhile, Spring Hill quarterback, Dylan Brown was 7-of-10 throwing, for 127 yards and three scores, while running back, Kirk Talley added two tallies for Spring Hill to finish 4-6, overall, and ending their season 2-3 mark.

Brown had scoring strikes to Ryan Lacey and Dylan Dozier for 33-yards each, and the final toss from eight-yards to Spencer Clark.

DAVID DIDUCH DAVID DIDUCH Meanwhile, Talley, led the Spring Hill rushing attack with 98 yards, with scoring jaunts of 10 and 40 yards.

Spring Hill rolled up 284-yards on the ground, and 127 passing for a total of a team high for the season 411-yards, as was the 56 points scored.

Adding on to the Spring Hill scoring were Jake Jones and Tyler Johnson with TD runs, and Cody Walker returned a fumble 42 yards for a touchdown.

Walker also booted eight extra points to polish up the Spring Hill’s scoring. Spring Hill completed its second of three scoring drives of the second quarter with a one-yard Jones run. The touchdown with 1:47 left in the first half capped a 65-yard march after the Spring Hill defense held Bullard on another fourth-down attempt that came up short.

Spring Hill would add another touchdown as Brown and Dozier hooked up on a 33-yard completion in which the Panther receiver was double covered, but made the catch inside the five yard line and carried it in.

Spring Hill added touchdowns of two yards by Johnson and an eightyard completion from Brown to Spencer Clark in the third quarter, pushing its lead to 49-0.

Spring Hill finished off their scoring in the final period as Talley scored with a 40-yard run out of the wildcat formation with 6:50 remaining in the game. Bullard would score, though, on a 79-yard run by Franklin with 3:40 left to play. Franklin dropped the ball 11 yards into the run, but it bounced cleanly back into his hands and he outraced the pursuing defense. Santiago Escobar booted the PAT to wrap up the scoring.

Leading tacklers for the Panther defense were Rhett Davis with eight stops, while David Diduch and Ja Kory Hunter added six tackles apiece.

Kirk Bryant made three catches good for 27 yards to lead the Panther receivers.

Daniel Howard in his final game was limited in time to account for fiveyards on the ground in four carries.

Franklin accounted for 1,050 through the air, and added on 379 yards rushing to lead the Panther offense.

Brandon Beavers was the favorite target with 21 catches for 325 yards and two TD’s, but missed the last three games due to injury.

Linebacker, David Diduch led the Panther on defense with 96 tackles for the season.

Bullard was outscored 282-36 in district play. The top scoring game of the season was in the lone win over Troup 43-40.

Bullard season ends at 1-9 and 0-5 in league play.
