Chapel Hill scores by land and air in 62-0 loss for BHS

BULLARD – The Bullard Panthers have got one more shot at a district win as they travel to play Spring Hill.

The same Spring Hill Panthers that eliminated any playoff hopes for Bullard last season with a 41-20 over the Panthers upset.

Sporting new faces on the varsity squad, and both teams looking for their first league win, the matchup is as close as anyone could ask.

Meanwhile at the expensive of our beloved Panthers, Chapel Hill Bulldogs kept their playoff hopes alive with a convincing 62-0 win over the Panthers on Senior Night at Panther Stadium on Friday.

The Panthers never could get anything going on offense, while rushing for 114 yards with Marquez Franklin making 22 carries.

Chapel Hill’s, Laramie Lee did most of the damage of eight running backs, all totaling 144 yards on the ground in only 28 tries to take the win.

Lee had 47-yards and two touchdowns in seven carries.

Lee’s scored his first on a two-yard plunge after a sixplay drive.

Alberto Lopez came on to boot his first of eight point-after conversion kicks on the night and the 7-0, Bulldogs lead.

Hauling in the first Santiago Escobar punt of the game, Kedray Hollins returned the kick 62-yards to paydirt to up the score 14-0, five-minutes into the game.

Hollins had 105 yards on two punt returns in the first quarter, and totaled 174 return yards when Bullard punted seven times.

Chapel Hill (4-5; 1-3), Added a four-yard run by Anthony Kincade and ‘Dogs quarterback, Jordan Williams found Avery Saenz for an 18-yard scoring strike to stake a 28-0, first quarter lead.

The barrage continued as Gerald Taylor hauled in a 17-yard score from Williams on the first drive of the second stanza.

Lee added an 11-yard jaunt and Saenz playing quarterback, ran in from 4-yards for the dominating 49-0, halftime lead.

The Bulldogs held a 201-to-68 in total yards at the break.

It looked as though the Bulldogs were going to continue to pour it on early in the second half as Taylor returned the second half kickoff, 90-yards for a score and a 55-0 bulge.

Chapel Hill, head coach Thomas Sitton literally called his‘Dawgs off playing the roster, coupled with the aid of a running clock for the final quarter.

The Bulldogs capped off the scoring with a twoyard dive by Andrew Tucker, set up by a 50-yard reception by Jimmy Wade midway through the final quarter.

The best drive of the night or Bullard stalled out in the final minute of the game, turning the ball over on downs from the Chapel Hill 12-yard line.

The Bulldogs (1-3), will square-off at home against Gladewater (2-3) next Friday with the third-playoff spot on the line.

The Bears lost to Gilmer 67-12, clinching the league title for the Buckeyes.
