BHS Key Club raises $250 for ‘Light the Night’
For several weeks, the Bullard High School Key Club sold paper balloons to raise money for the Lymphoma Foundation. Those who bought the balloons put their name on them and they were hung on a wall in front of the high school.
The Key Club was able to raise more than $250 for the organization, all in preparation for the “Light the Night” event Oct. 17 at Bergfield Park in Tyler. Key Clubbers and sponsors met at the park to lend their support of the project. First the key clubbers visited with other project participants who enjoyed a meal provided by Olive Garden.
“It was inspiring to listen to the little boys who had survived Leukemia,” said senior Susan Lowrie.
Some even enjoyed getting their face painted. Once it got dark, the group showed their support by walking the trail while holding lighted red balloons. Other participants carried white balloons, they were survivors of a blood cancer. Others carried gold balloons in memory of someone.
“Light the Night” is an annual event in which the Bullard High School Key Club has participated in for the past five years.
