With all the different clubs meeting in the rooms of Bullard High School, I think that the Health Science Technology club is definitely the most befitting of them all.
With all the changes in technology, more careers are on the edge of becoming obsolete. Bullard now has its first Health Science Technology club taught by Mrs. Amy McKeethan. She has opened our eyes to the endless possibilities of the growing medical career to us and has made it possible for us to understand exactly what the medical field is really like.
On Sept. 30, an ETMC helicopter landed at the high school and allowed us to have a first hand experience of what a paramedic, nurse, and pilot’s job is really like. They introduced us to different positions and jobs and well as informing us of some rules and past experiences. Later that day, they presented a power point demonstrating the importance of their jobs and safe steps to take.
Our club officers and teacher are planning to extend the money due date to join the club and have decided on t-shirts for each member to wear. We are also planning more events and activities to get us and the community involved.
We are having a car wash, hosting a dance, selling pizzas, and many more things to look forward to as our hope for this new club grow. Also, our health science class will receive scrubs next year and will be doing more activities such as visiting different hospitals.
We are currently learning much about types of hospitals, rules, and what career in the health field we should individually pursue. After taking the class for three years, students are then able to lead their dreams with being an assistant in an office, a pharmacist technician, and many other possibilities that lie ahead.
