Moore wins top prize at ET state fair

Hayden Moore of Bullard captured the score for hay growing at the East Texas State Fair Show in Tyler.

Moore’s bale received a score of 92.8, including a crude protein score of 19.5. AgriLand Farm Credit purchased the bale for $3,000.

In the auction, the entry by Gregg Walker, also of Bullard, was second at $1,800. It was purchased by Walker & Associates Surveying.

Other Bullard hay entries in the state fair auction included Walker, purchased for $1,100 by Brookshire Grocery Co.; Mike Williams, purchased for $1,000 by East Texas Copy Systems; Gaylon Metcalf, one purchased for $800 by Smith County Farm Bureau and one purchased for $800 by Southside Bank; and Ralph Metcalf, one purchased for $900 by Wilson & Sons Farm and one purchased for $500 by Ben Plunk.
