Barkley holds on for third Emerald Bay win

BULLARD – Two-time champion, Jim Barkley won his third Men’s Club Golf Championship time when he won in a playoff Sunday at Emerald Bay Club

Barkley (74-74-79) won in the playoff against Dale Leath (75-78-74) as both golfers finished with a 54- hole total of 227.

Jim Barkley fired a 74 Friday to take the first round lead. At that time, Barkley led by a stroke over multitime champion, Waylan Crawley and Leath in the championship flight

Defending champion John Taylor carded a 77 and is tied with Randy Stuart after one round. Taylor finished with a 216 total.

In the opening round of first flight action, D.F. Reeves led with an 82. James Childress and Anthony Foursha were tied for second with 85s.

Former Lee, and Houston Cougar golfer, Brad Jones has a three-stroke lead over Steve Green and Jeff Stephens in second flight.

In the Senior flight, James Carroll topped the field with a 75, leading Carroll Strange by four strokes after one day.

In the Senior President’s Flight, Paul Misso leads with a 78. Derwin DeShazo is second at 81

Dave Sharp tops the Super Senior field with an 85. Bill Barker is second with an 89, while Bob Bocock is third at 90.

James Carroll won the Senior Club Championship, Dave Sharp captured the Super Senior Championship.
