Panthers seventh-grade takes win; BMS eighth-grade nudged out by Tiger rally

The Panthers got rolling early on as Trey Bowen returned the opening kickoff to the Troup 40-yard line.

Seven plays later, quarterback, Colton Mebane scooted around the right end from 6-yards for the first points of the young season.

Bullard running back, Brentavion Henderson rumbled up the middle for the two-point conversion and led, 8-0.

Troup almost evened the score at the half as Marcus Kincade scored on a 6-yard tally of his own. The pointafter run failed for the 8-6, Panthers lead.

On the ensuing play, Troup fumble the ball on the exchange in the backfield and Ty Williams fell n the loose pigskin for the winning touchdown. Mebane ran the two-point conversion in after the score for the difference maker in the game, and a 14-6, Bullard cushion.

Troup made it close, and a oneplay game as Marquis Davis scored on a 64-yard scoring jaunt. The PAT run was stopped short by the Panthers defense to preserve the victory.

In the eighth-grade game, the Panthers could not stave-off a fourth quarter comeback by Troup in the eighth-grade lost to the Tigers 16-12.

Bo Hamby started the scoring off for Bullard as he grabbed a six-yard pass from Hunter Landrum. The PAT try was no good for a 6-0 Bullard lead.

Troup scored next on a touchdown run, and made their extra-point attempt for a 8-6, halftime ledger.

The Panthers (0-1), regained the lead in the third period as Hamby scored on a 20-yard scoring toss from Landrum. Again, the Panthers could not cash in on the PAT for a 12-8, Panthers advantage.

Troup grinded their last possession of the game before a blast up the middle to score the final touchdown. The Tigers then tacked on the extrapoint to seal the win.

Landrum, and running back Isiah Burton rolled up the rushig yardage behind outstanding play from linemen, Trent Hdjison, Ryan Sloan, and Brandon Conner for Bullard.

Defensively, the Panthers were led by hard-hiiters, Cody DeMovile, and Dylan White.
