Honeybrowne to perform at festival

A parade, live music and other entertainment, vendor booths and more will be featured at the Red White & Blue Festival sponsored by the Bullard Area Chamber of Commerce which will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in downtown Bullard.

Performances scheduled include the Chapel Hill High School, Bullard High School and Spirit of Tyler Cheerleaders, drill teams from Bullard High School, Robert E. Lee High School and John Tyler High School, the Jacksonville Square Dancers and the Lake Houston Dancers who were recently appeared on “America’s Got Talent.”

One of the headline groups that will provide musical entertainment will be Honeybrowne, a group that has made its mark on the Texas music scene and beyond. The band’s latest CD is titled, “Mile By Mile.”

According to the official Honeybrowne Web site, singer, songwriter and group leader Fred Andrews and his the group “come by their sound and success honestly, drawing from a rich palette of inspirations and then going out and road-testing the music they create to ensure that it makes a genuine connection with musicloving listeners.”

It’s also the most collaborative, with Honeybrowne guitarist Josh Owen and drummer Stephen Bres contributing to the songwriting and longtime bassist Jake Blackwell carries on in his band role as MVP on the sessions as well as the road. Andrews continues his fruitful song collaborations with Mark Addison and David Neuhauser and also pens a number with Nashville country rock rabble-rouser Trent Summar.

A parade will kick off the festival events. Applications to enter the parade are available online at wwwbullardtexaschamber (click on redwhiteandblue). To apply, fill out the form, which includes name, address, name of business to be represented, phone number and if a float or other parade activity is planned. Other festival activities will include a carnival, a petting zoo, vendors, a car show, live music, a mechanical bull and more.

This year’s key note speaker is Joan Hallmark of KLTV, known for her Freedom Fighter series, along with her extensive experience in the television industry.

Vendor booths also will be available. A 10x10 arts and crafts vendor booth will cost $35 (or $60 with a cover for one space; and $70 (or $120 with a cover) for two spaces if rented before Thursday, Oct. 1. Spaces will cost $50 (or $70 with a cover) for one space and $100 (or $140 with cover) for two spaces after Oct. 1.
