Bullard, area students graduate from Lamar

Lamar University is scheduled to confer 1,335 degrees during summer commencement Saturday, Aug. 15, in the Montagne Center.

The keynote speaker was Sen. Judith Zaffirini (DLaredo), a veteran leader in the Texas Legislature, will be the keynote speaker for the ceremony.

August graduates hail from 11 countries, 13 states outside Texas and 217 cities in Texas.

Graduation candidates also include three doctorates, 1,098 candidates for master's degrees and 206 for bachelor's degrees, with two students earning two degrees each.

August graduation marks a milestone because of the record number of degrees. The majority — 1,012 — will be the master's degrees in teacher leadership and school administration conferred under a new academic partnership in the College of Education and Human Development.

Lamar's summer degree candidates and their majors include:

Bullard: Hank Alan Hargraves, administration, master's degree.

Jacksonville: Tiffany Lichelle Hammock and Cynthia Denese Slovacek, administration; master's degrees.

Palestine: Shannon Dale Hansel and Davi Killion, administration; master's degrees.
