A hopping good time at Brook Hill --
(Photo Courtesy of Linda Seronello) The Brook Hill science classes had a surprise visitor Thursday, Aug. 27, Jax, a baby wallaby kangaroo. While it is only 15 inches tall, it will grow to more than 3 feet tall and will end up weighting between 60-80 pounds. It will take Jax an estimated three years to mature. The visit by the wallaby kangaroo was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Mark Conner, parents of Brook Hill alumnus, Marcus Conner. Jax is the first animal in their daughter Brianna's Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, being developed in East Texas. The latest addition to the collection is a Jerusalem donkey, named so for the cross on its hide on its back. Brook Hill officials said the students had a "wonderful" day spending time with an animal that they rarely see up close and personal.
