BULLARD - The culmination of a summer of free golf clinics and lessons came to an end this last Thursday as Darrell Chase, the Peach Tree-Oak Hurst Golf professional had four dedicated golfers come out to the Bullard courses for a real round of golf.

Or at least several holes before 100- plus temperatures ended the final session.

Over the summer, Chase has worked with eight summer programs through the Tyler YMCA and Tyler Parks and Recreation Department.

Most recently, Chase hosted 21 golfers to a three-day camp at Peach Tree-Oak Hurst courses.

At the YMCA, Chase had 65 participants in three sessions, and at the Tyler Parks and Recreation, entertained more than 125 potential players in five classes.

While most could not make travel arrangments from Tyler, Chase and four swingers wrapped up the classes with a invite for a few holes at Peach Tree Golf Course this past Thursday morning.

"This final day I knew it would be hard for most of the kids from the 'Y' and the parks program would have transportation problems, but, the focus of the day was more of the mental aspect of the game, and the four that came out are serious about their golf game," said Chase before he took the foursome out on the course.

"I tried to emphasize the optimum time to practice on their gme to get better, the mental preperation and appraoch they need to take in to every tournament and every hole."

Chase also maintains a summer junior program through out the summer.
