Bullard's Nick Rumbelow has been making a lot of noise this summer as a member of the Texas Prospects- Black team. Playing any infield position is a plus, but his pitching is what has turned the heads of several big Division I programs as well as some Major League Baseball advisors.
Rumbelow and his team recently participated in the Perfect Game Tournament in Huntsville, which showcased the top Texas talent in high school baseball.
Rumbleow was so impressive at the Texas tourney, the senior to be was only one of three Texas players invited to play at the Perfect Game Series in Minneapolis. Minnesota, and play at the MetroDome.
"It was just a honor to be selected to go up there and play, and then when you walked out on the field it was just awesome," said Rumbelow after returnng. "The stands were full of college scouts and MLB scouts, and we were playing against the best the nation high schools have to offer."
Rumbelow was among 200 players that were split into 10 teams for the showcase in Minnesota.
The loaded rosters only permitted limited playing time for all the players but Rumbelow made the most of his two innings on the mound. Nick struckout four, got an easy ground out and a pop-up to the infield for a perfect two innings in front of the prestigious crowd.
Bullard head coach, Ronnie Dent has been in attendance at many of the Prospects games and had nothing but praise for his all-state, and all East Texas nominee.
"I think Nick really matured a lot during our school season, and it has shown this summer because he has been playing some really good ball this summer," Dent said about his returning key player. "He put a lot of un-due pressure on himself this past year at Bullard because he felt like he had to carry the load, and he did a great job.
"Nick already had a lot of good programs interested in him, but after the summer he has had, I have been getting calls from multiple schools that haven't even been in the recruiting picture yet."
Schools like Rice, Mississippi State, LSU, Texas A&M, and Arkansas are just a few of the schools Rumbelow mentioned having heard from isince Minnesota.
