BULLARD - Going into last weeks game against the 10-U Wreckers softball game, the Bullard team had suffered through many narrow losses and setbacks, still looking for the teams first win.

Playing against the Bullard Thunder, the Wreckers had battled hard for five innings and led, 4-3 with and only three outs away from the first win.

The Thunder however began to rumble as the Thunder began the final inning loading the bases.

With the occurrence, most Wrecker parents and fans were already preparing post-game solace talks for their little softballers.

As Yogi Berra so wisely put it once, "it ain't over 'till it's over."

Leading by one run, and the bases loaded for the next Thunder batter, there was shot hit. What appeared to be an extra base smash in an outfield gap was snubbed by a great defensive gem.

Wreckers shortstop, Haley O'Brien made a running stab at the line-drive, and then took five steps to touch second base and catch one runner off base for two outs.

O'Brien then fired the ball into the pitchers circle, for team pitcher, Sarah Campbell.

Campbell snagged the throw and then noticed the runner at first base still trying to get back for the tag-up but Campbell was quicker. Campbell stepped outside the pitchers circle to make the ball 'live' again, threw over to Abby Story at first base to clip the runner for the triple play and preserve the first win of the year for the Wreckers.

The crowd went crazy and the Thunder showed outstanding sportsmanship after the game congratulating their foes on the tripe play and the win.
