ACADEMIC ALL-STATE TRACK AND FIELD
      Bullard High Sdhool's Minta Spears and Bailee Callens were both recently named to the UIL Class 3A Academic All-State Track and Field team. Both Spears and Callens ran varsity as freshmen this last year, and both qualifying for the regional track meet in Humble.

Kipp sisters named to all-state softball squad
      AUSTIN - Although East Texans dominated the Class 3A, 2009 Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Softball Team, the TSWA released last Saturday. Nominations were taken from coaches around the state and then voted on by the TSWA.

BBA Game of the Week
      BULLARD - Going into last weeks game against the 10-U Wreckers softball game, the Bullard team had suffered through many narrow losses and setbacks, still looking for the teams first win. Playing against the Bullard Thunder, the Wreckers had battled hard for five innings and led, 4-3 with and only three outs away from the first win.

BROOK HILL FOOTBALL CAMP
      At top- The Brook Hill School held their inaugural football camp under the direction of new head coach, Terry Pirtle. Pirtle was encouraged by the turnout, and impressed with the young talent at the fourday camp.

East Texas Spirit to start new team with local try-outs
      East Texas Spirit Soccer Club has an open training session scheduled this next Monday for all interested girls born between Aug. 1, 1995 and July 31, 1997. There is no charge to attend this training session and parents are encouraged to attend.

BHS to hold monthly boosters meeting
      The Bullard High School Booster Club will be holding their monthly meeting on Wednesday night at the new Bruno's Restaurant on the Old Jacksonville Hwy. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and the boosters invite you to come out and be a part of BHS athletics. You do not have to have a child participating to be a part of building the BHS athletic future.

      With the hot midsummer months already here, and for those with a young hunter coming of age or considering an out-of-state hunt, this is the time to be thinking about taking a course. The Hunters Education course is offered several ways. One is in a classroom over a twoday period or it can be taken online followed by a one-day field course.

Pop Warner football, cheer registration going on now
      The East Texas Pop Warner Football, Cheer and Dance is now registering for the upcoming 2009 Season. Pop Warner is a nationally known organization with a strict age/weight matrix. All kids play against kids around the same ages and weights to ensure success for all as well less potential for injuries to the kids.
