Scouts return from Philmont adventure with lots of stories
At top J.T. Moss and Josh Ritch (in background) Pan for gold at Cypher's Mine. The young also forges a hat hook and toured the old mine shaft, before seeing an old west stomp show with clog dancing and old-style music. "...after a short rest at Comanceh, it was time to push forward to the top of Mt. Phillips. By now we were all in pain. The only thing keeping us going was each one's desire not to let the other down. Then, out of the trees, we saw clear skies and we knew we were nearing the top. One last quick break for Mark and myself and then we walked onto the peak of Phillips as one unit brought here and united by God to see his beauty..."
Troop 366 is exhausted from the trip, but ready to tell tales of adventure and discovery.
The troop is working on a presentation for Bullard Kiwanis Club and anyone else interested, that outlines the high adventures they experienced at Philmont Boy Scout Ranc, in Cimarron, NM.
At bottom Jon Godfrey takes on the climb to to one summit the troop reached. The troop got to spend and entire day rock climbing and rapeling. The troop is expected to read from Journals kept by themselves and their leaders, Mark Maple and Curtis Hippler, and show hundreds of pictures.
No date is set as of yet, look for an announcement in a future edition.
