O Say can you see…Blast in the Sky.

Bullard get ready for the city's annual Independence Day celebration - Blast in the Sky - 6 p.m. Friday, July 3 at Bullard High School.

Blast in the Sky officials promise live entertainment by local talent, fun for the kids in a huge sandbox with buckets to create castles -- or to find prizes hidden in the sand - and Creature Comforts Water- Misters, to keep them cool.

Other music slated for the event includes a Live broadcast throughout the evening by KYYK radio.

Event planners have also set up a flag ceremony featuring a flag that was actually flown in Iraq.

Raffle prizes are slated to be given away throughout the evening. Tickets are $1 and available for advance purchase at city hall, or can be purchased throughout the night.

While fireworks are furnished, in order to enjoy the show, residents are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

Proceeds from Blast in the Sky are used to benefit the park fund.

"This event is a winwin situation; attendees will have a wonderful time celebrating our country's independence and all proceeds go to our park fund which helps to continue the good work done at our park," Stacey Thompson, mayor pro tem, said. "Please join us for a family-friendly night of fun while helping to make our park grow even more."

Thompson, is one of a handful working on the event and is thankful for all the support.

"A committee of about 15 people have worked many hours to bring this event to the City of Bullard," Thompson said. "As the Chairperson for this event, I would like to thank each of them for their dedication, passion, and hours of work to make this event better than ever. Their time, willingness to serve, and commitment has not gone unnoticed and will never be forgotten."
