GLADEWATER - The Bullard regional qualifiers got a little tune up recently at the regional qualifiers meet held at Jack Murphy Stadium in Gladewater.

The meet served as a warm up for regional qualifiers from Class 5A down to 1A schools

For the girl's, junior Lady Panther, Ashley Ricci took the gold medal in the girl's high jump with a leap of 5'2. The leap was Ricci's season best as were the times of the girl's, mile relay team. Ricci beat Jennifer Walker of Garrison and Ta'Lisha Hart of Pine Tree.

The team members of the mile relay team that ran a season-best are Samantha Phillips, Bailee Callens, Kylee Nichols, and Sarah- Grace French.

Nichols also placed fifth in the 800-meter run for Bullard, and Lady Panther, Bailee Callens placed seventh in the 3200m run, setting her personal best this year by shaving 10 seconds off of her district time recording a 12:46.

Freshman, Minta Spears did not compete due to the UIL regional academic meet that she was competing in.

The boys are few in numbers and then some when it comes to a team total for big points.

David French (discus), and Charlie Moore (triple jump), are the only regional qualifiers but French was the lone Bullard representative in Gladewater.

French had two throws just for markings but his third throw was a scratch leaving French out of the finals. Moore did not participate, and may not compete at the upcoming regionals due to a nagging hamstring injury.Moore would be surrendering a personal track finale in exchange for the possibility of playing for the Panthers baseball team in the playoffs.

With the recent reinstatement of the regional meets after the original Swine Flu virus decree by the UIL, BHS will be competing on May, 15-16, in Humble, at the Class 3A, Region 3 Regional Track Meet.

State qualifiers will run the a few weeks later than normal for the state titles in Austin, June 5-6.
