Letter to the Editor
Editor,
What a great photo of the former Bullard Mayors in the paper this past week! It is clear here is a great group of men who gave freely of their time, talents and energy to make Bullard what it was
during their tenures. That photo should be framed and placed in City Hall. I in particular like that they urge us to vote "For the Right Reasons." That is a good reminder for those of us who might be tempted to vote "For the Wrong Reasons."
Of course, there are a lot of catchy campaign slogans for the voters to peruse. Another slogan I really like is "It's About Respect." That is something that none of us ever get enough of and a candidate that promises lots of respect certainly deserves some serious consideration. Those of us who identify with the late Rodney Dangerfield can really get behind that one.
Something that doesn't get as much attention as it should and is not nearly as fun to talk about is "Issues." While we would all prefer something else catchy, like "Yes We Can!" sooner or later reality sets in and it gets down to the boring details of who can really do the job.
Bullard is certainly facing it's share of issues and it will take a City Council with great "Qualifications" to chart a path to the future.
David Stewart is one of the lesser known candidates for City Council which probably has something to do with his lack of a really good slogan.
Between working at his job, spending time with his wife and three sons, attending numerous baseball games and serving as Chairperson of
the Bullard Planning and Zoning Committee he just hasn't come up with one.
David has quietly served his community for years including as President of the Pecan Valley Ranch Homeowners Association, Chairperson of the Tyler Planning and Zoning Committee, Member of the Tyler 21 Comprehensive Plan Committee and numerous other positions.
He is the kind of person who
gets things done. He is the kind of person the City of Bullard needs on it's City Council.
Please consider voting for David Stewart "For the Right Reasons."
David Huffman Bullard
