Letter to the Editor
Editor,
I haven't seen this much excitement in town since I was a reporter for Cindy and Joan at the Bullard Weekly News (now the Bullard Banner News). The reason for the excitement is that we are having a competitive election campaign.
For the past six years, the folks that have lived here for many years -- and made Bullard where everyone wants to live -- have been placed on the back burner in favor of growth. These folks have only seen two City tax-rate increases, their streets neglected, and the cap removed from their sewer charges as the City has prepared for that growth. Growth is important, but not everything.
Teresa Adams-Wilks has lived within the City limits of Bullard for many years and has created a thriving business within those limits. I have known Teresa for a long time and believe that she has the concern for our current residents that has been somewhat lacking in the last few years. Because I believe that she will address those concerns as Mayor, I strongly support her for that office.
It is also good that we have four candidates for the two open seats on the council. I have served with Jay Abercrombie at the Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce and have met and talked with Shirley Coe. I support these two candidates for the Council.
Mrs. Frederick has served three terms (six years) on the council and that is enough for two reasons. First, service on the council takes away a great deal of important family time and second, a fresh perspective is needed on the council. I do not know Mr. Stewart. Regardless of who you support, it is important that you vote in the City election. We need to show that we are all concerned with what goes on in our City.
B. J. Langford Former Mayor City of Bullard
