Panthers revenge ties up the district, forces playoff

BULLARD - The Bullard Panthers made Senior Night a special on for their lone senior, Charlie Moore, earning a co-championship with a big 61-54, District 17-3A win over Tatum, on Tuesday night at Panther gymnasium.

Moore had a career night to beat Tatum in football earlier this year.

It was his Bullard Panther teammates that joined in to make 10-of-15 free throws in the final fourminutes to nail down the district partnership with the Eagles.

Moore scored one point down the vital stretch but more than had a good outing with 12 rebounds, six steals, and three blocked shots.When it came to Bullard points, the entire squad had their moments.

Panther point guard, Lance Anding spread out 20 points to lead Bullard, and knocked down two, 3-pointers while teammates, Brandon Beavers ad Josiah Rosebury added 16, and 15- points respectively.

Two Anding 3's, and one of Rosebury's two longrange bombs in the opening stanza set the tempo for a back-and-forth, full-blast showdown.

Bullard led by as many as 10 points in the third quarter, however Tatum's Matt Brown (20 points), and Desmond Fite (12 points), battle back to a 53-51, Tatum deficit with 1:48 left in the game. Daniel Howard, Anding, Rosebury and Beavers made charity tosses to seal the win. Howard was 4-for-4 in the final minutes.

The win for Bullard sets up a one-game playoff with the Eagles to determine the top-seed for the upcoming UIL playoffs.

The junior varsity took a rare loss to end their season as Tatum took a 49-46 win.

Trailing 31-25 after the half, Jace Deese buried a 3- pointer to spark a comeback to tie the game at 38 apiece going into the final stanza. Tatum finished up the game with six, 3-pointers foot their main difference maker.

R.J. Horton was big inside with 17 points, and Chris Braaten scored 11 points.

Jonathan Bell scored 23 points in the freshmen game to lead to a 49-38 win over the Eagles in the first game of the day. Bell scored 11 points in the fourth period alone to seal the win. Bullard put up 29, second half points to open up a 20- 20, halftime deadlock.
