Shirley Coe and David Stewart are running for a City Council seat and Gary Roberts is seeking to be the next Place 5 school board member.

Coe said her decision to run is one that she has given consideration for more than a year. She sees herself as an "ordinary" citizen of Bullard, dealing with everyday life issues, she feels give her better insight to address city issues as they might affect her fellow citizens.

" I want to be the person to represent my neighbors. Not just those that live on either side of me, but my neighbors located from city limit sign to city limit sign," Coe said. "The city council has a great responsibility to the citizens of Bullard. As an ordinary citizen dealing with everyday life issues I believe that I the ability to help address these issues and give my neighbors a bigger voice."

Coe said her goals include better informing citizens about city issues and being involved with city decisions. She also said if she is elected, she would work to build a better relationship between citizens and the City Council.

"My vision for Bullard is to see it become one of the Texas Top Cities to live in," Coe said. "I would like to see continued growth, both in clean businesses and real estate development. I would like to see the desire to live in our excellent school districts be matched by the desire to live in our beautiful City of Bullard."

Coe said in order to accomplish this vision, it will take hard work, open communication with the citizens, and open communication within the council. "There are many projects that have been started and might just need additional help to be completed," Coe said. "I hope to be a part of completing these fantastic ideas and building on the visions of others and seeing them become reality."

Coe said she understands the importance of improved infrastructure.

"As the city has grown, I understand the necessity to upgrade the infrastructure projects, such as the upgraded waterlines, the new sewer treatment plant and the new water tower for increased storage." Coe said.

Coe and her husband moved to this area to provide better opportunities for their children.

"As a council member, I can work toward providing opportunity for my children and my fellow citizens' children and grandchildren," Coe said. "I would like to have the right businesses come to the city and to see people's desire to live in Bullard match or exceed people's desire to live in the Bullard Independent School District."

Coe said, although she and her family have only lived in Bullard for a little less than 7 years, she grew up in a small town in which she was actively involved in the growth of the community, city government, economic development and county government.

"I understand the processes that must be taken in order to insure the best possible resolutions to issues that directly and indirectly affect the citizens," Coe said. "I have an extensive banking and legal background and have been in leadership and management roles for more than 20 years."
