I was invited this week to speak to Bullard Kiwanis Club, to speak about myself. What an honor. More thanks to this community for accepting me.

So last week I talked about some of the characters one can find in just about any city, then Bullard produced for me yet another. Mary Dautreuil, assistant to Police Chief Gary Don Lewis. Mary has a pet Black Widow Spider in her office. It was out with the old and in with the new on Friday when maintenance workers found a huge - and possibly pregnant - spider. Mary said the spiders just fascinate her.

February is National Love Your Library Month. Instead of Valentine's Day cards, Bullard Community Library asks that patrons show their love of the library through donations of supplies, such as paper, tape and post-its.

Bullard Community Library will host a welcome reception for Joanne Buenttner, new director and head librarian, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the library. Friends of Bullard Community Library will provide refreshments and everyone is welcome.

Moms In Touch meets 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesdays at Bullard Properties, on the corner of Main and Phillips Streets.

Cherokee County Commissioners' Court meets at 10 a.m. on the second and fourth Monday of the month at Cherokee County Courthouse.

Bullard City Council meets 6:30 p.m., the second Tuesday of each month. Come out and see what is happening in the city.

Bullard ISD meets the third Tuesday of the month.
