Kathryn Penrose

All week I have been receiving calls welcoming me to the community; and, meeting those who just wanted to pop in and say "welcome."

I have also received cards, gifts, phone calls and even a surprise visit from back home in Kilgore.

I feel so blessed, that I am so welcomed in one city and missed in another.

One thing I have learned since arriving in Bullard is that there is a shortage of rental property. I have been looking for 10 days straight and I have not turned up one place I could call home.

+++

I hope everyone enjoyed the annual chamber banquet. Nine years and going strong. I hope the tenth banquet is as exciting as this one, even though it has a tough act to follow.

Wasn't it great that Bullard and Flint were both recognized for their amazing burgers last week.? I have not been here long enough to get across the street to Legends, but I can testify that it sure does smell good right around lunch time.+++

Seeing a horse hitched at the bank or a horse-drawn cart in downtown Bullard, may not surprise anyone local, but it does me. I guess every city has its characters. It is said that Bullard's own Charles Morton once bought a tie right from around a man's neck in a San Antonio restaurant. for $20. I'll give you $21!

I am looking for events and dates to fill an F.Y.I. column. If anyone has something to share, please stop by or call the newspaper office. Whether it be church, school, or just a tid-bit, I want to know all about it.+++

If anyone has a story idea, something they would like to read about, or a question that needs answering, call me for that too
