Lon Morris gong back to the gridiron
JACKSONVILLE - After winning a national championship back in the 1950's, Lon Morris College recently announced the renewal of football at the Jacksonville junior college.
"Lon Morris College's intent behind the expansion of the sports program and adding football is to engage current students at new levels by providing them an enhanced and more complete college experience," said Lon Morris Sports Information Director, Michael James. "We hope to draw former students and the East Texas community closer to the college and its continued development toward success."
Along with that announcement also came the naming of former Rusk standout, Johnnie Richey as the head coach.
Richey has 36 years of coaching experience, coaching in each classification in the state.
Football will be added to the sports agenda which already plays men's and women's basketball, golf, cross-country, soccer, baseball and softball.
