The Guard claims third-place in Arlington over Holidays

ARLINGTON - The Brook Hill Guard brought home third-place in the stateranked riddled, Arlington Oak Ridge over the holidays.

The Guard started off with a 74-38, thumping of Fort Worth Bethesda, before beating Fort Worth-Carter Riverside, 77-47 to avacne in the winner's bracket.

The next round proved to be a tough matchup with Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill, and the Tigers came out on top, 64-51, putting the Guard in the third-place game.

In the finale, The Guard dominated a very strong, Fort Worth Antonian, 71-60.

The Guard returns to district action on Tuesday night as they play host to Richardson-Canyon Creek.

GAME ONE

Brook Hill 74, FW Bethesda 28

Holding a commanding 47-8, halftime lead The Guard slowed the pace in the second halfto cruise to the opening round win.The Guard was led by 22 points from Jeremey Chappelle, Mason Spradlin chipped in with 15 points, and Tyler Baker was in double-figures with 12 points.

GAME TWO

Brook Hill 77, Carter- Riverside 47

The Guard blew through another Fort Worth team in the second round as Chappelle dropped in 27 points, and Collin Hanks added 18 points to pace the scoring. Hanks nailed two, 3- pointers, and Mason Spradlin knocked down two longrange 3's, to toal out with 10 points for the win.

SEMIFINALS

Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill 64, Brook Hill 51

The Tigers of Trinity Christian caught Brook Hill with The Guard down, and lost 64-51 to the state-ranked TAPPS squad from Cedar Hill. Jason Rombo scored 32 points for TCCH to lead the way to the win, and the championship game. Brook Hill had to play most of the game without Chappelle, as he was held to 10 points in the game before retiring with an injury. Courtney Tomas came on to lead the Guard with 13 points, for the only Brook Hill players in double-figures joining Chappelle in the loss.

THIRD-PLACE GAME

Facing a very big lineup, including ex-Boston Celtic, Greg Kite's son, and several other AAU teammates, The Guard was relentless with full-court pressure and built on to a 23-17, first quarter lead after one period to take the win. Four Guard players hit for double-digits, led by Courtney Thomas with 18 points, Mason Spradlin added 16 with five treys, Chappelle added 14 points, and Hanks sank two 3-pointers to finish out with 12 points.
