Services for Margaret Akerlund, 70 of Bullard will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Bullard with Dr. Gary Fitzgerald and Dr. Randy Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Akerlund passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Hospice of East Texas following an illness.

She was born on May 17, 1938 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to the late John and Lela Beard Freeman. She moved to Texas when she married her husband, Eric Akerlund and they were married for 49 years. She resided in Kingwood, Texas for 28 years where she worked as a school secretary for 25 years at Bear Branch Elementary School. Upon retirement she moved to Bullard, Texas with her family. During this time Margaret enjoyed spending time on the lake with her grandchildren. The Akerlunds have many friends and were active in their church, the First United Methodist Church of Bullard where she was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Eric Akerlund of Bullard, daughters Erica Miller and husband Paul of Tyler, Nicole Bunger and husband Michael of McKinney and son Mark Akerlund of Houston. Sisters Oralee Schoeman of Denver, Colorado and Carolyn Gallaher of Slidell, Louisiana and four grandchildren Travis and Campbell Miller, Emma Rae and Ruby Bunger.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy. in Tyler.
