Staff Reports

Bullard Band Director Gary Jordan and principal Scott Franks pose with the award-winning Bullard High School band.
The Bullard High School Band received first division "Superior" ratings at the Region 21 Class AAA UIL Concert Contest and Sight-reading Contest on Thursday

The competition was held at Troup High School.

One of the judges, Dr. Nelson Nolden, Director of Fine Arts for the Goose Creek Consolidated ISD in the Houston area, wrote: "You and your director have prepared a difficult program and given a very enjoyable and musical performance.exemplary teaching and learning. You are a great example of fine Texas high school bands."

The Panther Band also received the outstanding UIL Sweepstakes award.

This award is presented to bands that receive a first division at all three UIL contests: marching, concert, and sight-reading.

The public is invited to hear the award winning UIL Sweepstakes Bullard High School Band and Jazz Band in concert beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Bullard High School gym. Admission is free.

The Band Booster Club will serve a baked potato dinner at 5:30 p.m., before the concert beginning.

"This is an important fundraiser to help the band raise funds for our performance at Disney World on Friday, June 6," said band director Gary Jordan.

The Bullard High School Band is directed by Jordan and assisted by Michael Oglesby.

"We thank the faculty, administration and staff of Bullard IDS for their tremendous support of the Panther bands," Jordan said. "We know we could not be successful without all your support. "
