'Pennies for patients'

Sixth grade students at the Bullard Middle School helped save lives by recently participating in the "Pennies for Patients" program campaign benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. For two weeks, students brought in spare change to save the lives of people touched by blood cancers, such as leukemia -- which strikes more children and young adults under the age of 20 than any other type of cancer. To reward the students for an excellent job the highest fund-raising classroom receives a pasta party from Olive Garden courtesy of the society. Donnie Lee's sixth period teen leadership class raised $606.04 earning the trip. All sixth graders did a great job and raised $2,442.57 and deserve. The Teen Leadership teachers helped with making this campaign more exciting for the students after reaching the goal of $2,000, Lee will shave his head, Sara Beam is dying her hair purple and Ryan Tomlin said it's a surprise.
