FBC Gresham plays host to '42' tourney

FIIRST PLACE C.A. Barnes and Irene Lusk
'On March 29, a 42 Tournament was held at the First Baptist Church, Gresham from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It was sponsored by the church's Sonshine Group for over age 55 adults, who meet every Thursday night at 6 p.m. to play 42.

The first place trophy was won by Irene Lusk, a member of the First Baptist Church, Gresham and originator of the 42 game night and her partner, C. A. Barnes of Bullard.

Second place trophy was won by Gwen Cain and Judy Trull both of Tyler and third place trophy was won by G. W. Green and Virgil Jackson both of Tyler.

Six teams tied for second and third places and the play off games were played to determine these winners.

The committee responsible for getting this tournament together was Norma Beddingfield, Irene Lusk, Carol Seals and Bea Cooper, with the cooperation and encouragement of the Rev. Roy Thoene and David May, student minister.

G. W. Green furnished a catered barbecue lunch and the ladies of the Sonshine Group whofurnished desserts were Irene Braswell, LaVerne Jones, Carol Seals, Lois Brownlee, Charlene Warren and Norma Beddingfield.
