Frisby wins prestigious essay contest

The Captain William Barron Chapter, Tyler, Sons' of The American Revolution announces that Brook Hill School student, Brandon Frisby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Frisby, is the winner of the Texas State SAR George and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest Scholarship Award.
Brandon also won the local and regional contests to qualify for the state level competition. Brandon's scholarship was awarded at the Texas State Sons' of the American Revolution convention in Arlington, on Saturday, March 29.
Brandon's essay will now compete at The National SAR Competition with the winner of the National Scholarship Award being announced at the National SAR Convention in Sacramento, California, July 5-9.
The George and Stella M. Knight Essay competition begins at the local level annually and is open to all high school students in public, private, parochial and home schools in the local Tyler/Smith County area. The SAR is a patriotic organization, open to all males 18 years and older, who can prove by documentation their lineage with an ancestor who participated in the American Revolutionary War.
