Rivers in concert to benefit 'Shattered Dreams'

Rivers
Whitehouse is not home to Casey Rivers, but he should feel close on the auditorium stage at Whitehouse High School next weekend -- especially since his wife hails from neighboring Bullard.

The East Texas singer, song-writer will be presenting a benefit concert on Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m.

Rivers is no stranger to Whitehouse. He has been a regular during several YesterYear Reviews.

These performances were in the days prior to his television debut on USA Network's Nashville Star in 2006.

Rivers took first runner up in this country music talent competition.

Growing up in Lindale, River's singing career started with his first public performance at age six for a school talent show.

But his first true love, gospel music singing, began at the age of three in his home church of Carmel Baptist Church.

He and wife Doni now make their home in Franklin, Tenn.

Rivers is working on a new CD and getting to know all the "right people" in the Nashville area.

Along with great country, gospel and oldies favorites, Rivers will sing some his original titles including "If We'd Known Better," "Now That He Has You," "Tornadoes and Trailer parks" and "Heaven's Door."

Tickets for the benefit concert are $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 10.

They are available for purchase at the Tri County Leader, Cavender's and CardSmart in the Times Square Shopping Center.

Unique in its design and powerful in its impact, Shattered Dreams is an educational experience that reminds high school students of the dangers associated with drinking and driving.

"Too many young lives have already been lost and countless others severely impaired because of the tragic consequences of underage drinking and drinking combined with driving. Shattered Dreams not is about drinking and driving. It's about living and dying," a spokesperson said.
