The Bullard Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire in Emerald Bay around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Fire Chief Keith Newburn said his captain on the scene believes it was a electrical malfunction that started the blaze.

No one was injured, though the family's two dogs were killed.

The firefighters kept the fire contained to the room of origin and the attic, but the entire house sustained smoke damage.

Emerald Bay Security assisted with traffic control at the scene.
