BMS competes in `Model UN' Bullard Middle School participated in the Region VII Model UN event for the first time on Feb. 7-8. All schools and teams participating met at UT Tyler in the Cowan Center for two days to write impromptu resolutions, debate, and learn more about procedures taken by countries to resolve world problems. Mexico was the assigned country to study and represent as UN members. The six-member team worked all year learning how to right resolutions about world issues for six different committees. The group also made a scale map and collage depicting a troubling issue of their chosen country. The Bullard team won a first place trophy for their map out of 44 entries and 52 teams of 4-6 who attended the two-day workshop. The following students were our representatives from Virginia Suggs' gifted program at the middle school: Madison Malone/head delegate, Katie Shumate, Chelsea Foreman, and Christina Cave all in the eighth grade and Taylor Frederick and Kelsey Long were the two sixth grade delegates. |
