Ensemble presents activities prior to its UT Tyler performance MASS Ensemble will present five days of residency activities prior to their performance at The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. MASS Ensemble is known for large-scale instruments and kinetic performances, and they will install an Earth Harp, known as the world's largest stringed instrument, from the top of the UT Tyler Cowan Center to the ground as well as conduct workshops and classes to involve the public. The internationallyrenowned performance group will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4. Tickets are $36, $26 and $16 and are available at the UT Tyler Cowan Center box office or online at www.cowancenter. org. Three hundred complimentary tickets are available to UT Tyler students. Residency activities include: .. Friday, Feb. 28 2 p.m. - Exterior Earth Harp installation (approximately two hours installation and tuning time). .. Saturday, March 1 2 p.m. - Exterior Earth Harp demonstration. One-hour workshop gives participants the opportunity to create music with members of MASS and develop an in-depth understanding of the mechanics and principles of the invented instruments of MASS. .. Sunday, March 2 2 p.m. - Exterior Earth Harp demonstration. 3 p.m. - Instrument building workshop. MASS invites participants to create and build their own fully functioning sculptural stringed instruments.
